Refugees on Mediterranean in trouble, alarm phone is now operating!

Now that the Italian marine rescue operation ‘Mare Nostrum’ has ended, the ‘Boatspeople’ who are still trying to cross the Mediterranean to find refuge in Europe, risk more than ever to drown, as more and more emergency calls of ships with refugees are left unanswerred, even when calls get through and are registered, and ships who are closeby could assist fast enough to save the people. There are also pushed backs, like people in distress in the Greek National Territory Waters who are pushed back to Turkey and left over to themselves.

What is happening now on the Mediterrean should be considered as an extreme multiple homicide of innocent people, commited by the European Union under the pressure of the anti-immigration agency Frontex. Therefore it is important that people are aware of what is happening on the mediterranean so they can do something about this cruel injustice.

To make an end to this, several organisations defending the rights of immigrants, launched an alarm phone number to put pressure on all the official rescue organisations around the mediterranean, so they would react on emergency calls and to guarantee the saving of the ‘Boatspeople’ when the means are available.

The alarm phone service is new and functions under precare conditions, it is important that the first emergency calls are sended to official rescue services. When there is no answer coming, people in distress can contact the alarm phone number + 334 86 51 71 61, with the necessary information ( identity, GPS coordinations, what kind of emergency, how many victims, the conditions of the victims). The call then get passed further to official rescue organisations nearby the emergency zone to force them to take action.

If any emergency call is left unanswerred, public press and politicains will be contacted to put more pressure.
